Trip report by Lucy Randall.
Seven divers from ANU Scuba Club tackled cleaning up under Tathra Wharf on Clean Up Australia Day (2nd March). We lowered two weighted milk crates down to about 3.5m and sent in Jen, Kim, Richard and Alex to start cleaning. Peter, Gail and Lucy soon got in to help out once we had secured the crates properly.
Accompanied by a couple of curious bull rays, we spent about an hour collecting fishing equipment and accessories amid 14?C temperatures and about 4m viz.
A full list of rescued detritus is shown below:
Two small boys encouraged recycling of the fishing equipment and were well satisfied with an estimated $40 worth of sinkers, lures and hooks.
We then repaired to the cafe above the wharf to stock up with yummy fish and prawns.
